Hi everyone,
Just bought a secondhand Gunbot license through gunbot.shop as I was looking to run the new stepGrid strategy.
Got introduced to the SG Mutation Project and was very interested to be a part of it as I was quite impressed with Aitor’s results.
Javier helped me with the calculator but I’ve halved the TL and doubled the pairs.
I had some trouble with the connection to FTX, which was fixed by adding a SUBACCOUNT key.
Anyway, I’ve literally just configured it and hit ‘Start Trading’ and putting up this post, so I’ll update soon.
Strategy: SG Mutation C1 on v21.8.9

Update:
I’ve been running SG Mutation for 1 week now.
For the past 6 days I have been running SG Mutation v3.5 variant C4 on v23.0.2 and trading 12 pairs.
Thanks to Javier for helping me get set up.
Number of pairs: 12

Max DU: 4
Max capital used: 14%

After this post I will be increasing capital slightly with some unallocated funds and adjusting TL accordingly.
Changes for the new week.
Trading Limit: 42.5
Had to play around with different GB versions as the pnl stats weren’t showing up on the dashboard. I still had varying problems with v22.0.1 and v23.0.0 but seems to work ok with v23.0.2 beta. No issues with the bot/strategy that I can see so far (~2 hours running this version).
The stats here is really for the last 21 hours. I had stepGrid running for a few hours on USD-ETH before I had set up SG mutation to ensure GB was working and could execute trades on my FTX account.
Thanks for sharing your results. v22.0.1 works fine for me, except the PNL issue. v23.0.2 fixes PNL. It doesn’t need to stop and start the bot to get updated PNL stats. Well… in fact it does, but v23.0.2 auto updates PNL every few hours, so it partially fixes PNL issue.

Hi Megadarv, thanks for sharing your results. I just wanted to point that the DCA number you see in the GUI is not accurate. The number is usually higher than the real DCA number. For this reason we had to calculate the real DCA number for SG Mutation internal calculations. If Gunbot Dashboard shows “DCA 10”, most likely is DCA 7 or 8.

Nice log mega, a 23% return in 1 month is pretty impressive!
Out of interest:
1) How are you choosing your pairs? Are you manually screening them or using an auto-controller?
2) How often are you getting bagged on some of these mid-caps?
3) When you remove a trading pair, do you let it finish its cycle before removing it, or do you just stop trading it and hold it as a bag for manual sell later?
Tracking profit has been a bit hard because I was adding/removing pairs for a bit. Since I like my lists tidy and GB loses the PnL data of the pairs you remove, it was a bit of a pain doing it. Be nice when we get v4 for auto add/remove pairs.
I started looking into AC’s a bit more too the last couple of days and today I added Pim’s total base value override as a job, which I’m using to auto adjust my TL based on the SG mutation TL calculator. I used to do it once a week so auto TL compounding is nice.
I’m also going to start using the total base value override to work out profitability of the strats I’m running and comparing with the values GB provides. If it works the way I think it’s going to, using the total base value will provide me with more accurate profit reporting and I’ll be able to add/remove pairs without worry about losing any pnl data.
As for the pairs I’m trading, I just hand picked ones I like based on nothing. No logic behind it. I reduced the pairs I’m running as it was taking too long to cycle through them all.
Most are ok but we’ve been going up since I started running this. Longest bag I’ve held so far is 8 days with RSR and the bag isn’t very big. The real test will be when we trend down a while I guess.
The pairs I want to remove, I let it run like normal but I set STOP AFTER NEXT SELL to true. I’ll delete the pair when the trade completes.

As you say, Gunbot only takes into account the pairs that are already added for PNL calculation. In my case it’s not a big issue as I prefer to keep trading with the same pairs (trusted coins for me). In your case you can do 2 things:
1- Override STOP AFTER NEXT SELL in pairs you want to stop trading with, so they will still be added and their PNL will be calculated.
2- Other option would be to keep a second bot instance, in a different directory, with Watch Mode activated and all the pairs added. This way this instance could be used to check the PNL for all the pairs.
I’m using to auto adjust my TL based on the SG mutation TL calculator. I used to do it once a week so auto TL compounding is nice.
Note that changing TL in the middle of a cycle can mess the internal calculations. SG Mutation makes different calculations as DCA count shown in Dashboard is not accurate at all. What you can do is:
1- Set stop after next sale and then set a new TL for the new cycle.
2- Other option is to change TL a bit, for example from 100 to 110. (It would mess a bit calculations but it won’t be a huge difference). What I mean is that you can change it a bit even in the middle of a cycle and it wouldn’t have a bug impact in SG Mutation behavior.
The real test will be when we trend down a while I guess.
Not only the real test for the strategy, but also for botters, as I have seen people panicing after a 5%- 10% drop and selling with loses. I recently faced a huge drop (from 60 to 70%) and it took 2 months to exit the cycle with profit for some coins, but it was a matter of time. During that time I had cold mind a left the bot doing its job, so better be ready for that. Also note that the deeper the price goes, the higher the profit will be when closing the cycle
